By Marcus Rolland on Jun 15, 2008 - 07:36 PM | 67 Views Many PSP games have a minimum firmware version 3.02 requirement. This means that if you have a PSP with an older firmware version (below 3.02), then you would not be able to play these games. To play these newer games, you need to upgrade your PSP firmware version to 3.02 or above. But while doing this will allow you play these games, you would be unable to play downloaded games if your firmware version is above 1.5. That's a big blow if you are anything like me and want to play downloaded games as well as most recent PSP games. But not to worry, there's a way out of this. The solution is to run multiple firmware versions on your PSP console. This article will show you just how to setup multiple firmware on your PSP. To run multiple firmware on your PSP, you would need to download Devhook, a simple homebrew application that enables PSP users to emulate different firmware on their PSP's. With Devhook, you can mount ISO and compress CSO images that are stored on a PSP memory stick. So you would not need to move around with several UMD's since you will be able to store games on your PSP memory sticks and play them directly from there. Another exciting feature of the Devhook application is the ability to run games directly from your PC using a USB cable. Now if you're getting excited by all this development, all I can say is: Get ready for more excitement! Really, with the Epsilon BIOS, you can do everything that the Devhook application can do and much more. The Epsilon BIOS is like a custom flash replacement for the PSP firmware. And to use it, you will have to install a mod chip called the "Undiluted Platinum" inside your PSP. With the Undiluted Platinum chip, PSP users can dual boot their PSP so they can run homebrew programs without losing the ability to play the latest PSP games. Talk about the best of both worlds. Of course, the Undiluted Platinum mod chip comes at a price (about $90 USD). But when you consider the fact that you will be able to play all homebrew irrespective of the firmware version your PSP is running, you would consider this a big bargain. Add to this, is the fact that the risk of bricking is almost non-existent. So what's holding you back from running multiple firmware on your PSP and playing homebrew games as well as the most recent PSP games on your PSP console? Is it the cost of the Undiluted Platinum mod chip? If it is, then head over to my site and I will show you how to download the Devhook application for free.
